There is nothing like a delicious, traditional kale mash on a cold winter evening. This Dutch dish is not only heartwarming, but also packed with healthy ingredients. Our tip: make a little extra, because it tastes even better the next day!

1 kilogram floury potatoes
500 grams fresh kale
1 smoked sausage
200 milliliters semi-skimmed milk
1 onion
2 tablespoons butter
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
1Peel the potatoes and cut them into pieces.
2Cook the potatoes in a large pan of water for about 20 minutes until tender.
3Add the kale to the pan with the potatoes for the last 10 minutes.
4Heat the smoked sausage in another pan according to the package instructions.
5Finely chop the onion and fry it in a pan with butter until translucent.
6Drain the potatoes and kale and mash them with the milk until smooth. Add extra milk if the mash is too dry. Don't worry, you can always add more!
7Add the fried onion, salt, and pepper to the mash and mix well.
8Serve the mash with the smoked sausage and gravy. Enjoy!
